What are your Terms of Use, Privacy Policy and License Agreement details?

Please see https://guardon.com/terms-of-use/ , https://www.guardon.com/privacy-policy/ and https://www.guardon.com/eula/ for Terms of User, Privacy Policy and End User License Agreement respectively. By using GuardOn, you essentially agree to all terms and conditions in these three documents.

In what types of emergency situations can I use GuardOn to help me?

You can use GuardOn if your Safety is threatened by anyone, anyhow, at any time for any reason. These include situations of harassment, molestation, kidnapping, burglary, home invasion and more. In response to such situations, please raise a Safety Alert through your GuardOn mobile app or GuardOn wearable.

You can also use GuardOn if you experience a life threatening medical emergency such as a heart attack. If this happens, please raise a Medical Alert through your GuardOn mobile app or GuardOn wearable.

GuardOn can also be used in semi-emergency situations, for example, to seek roadside assistance if your vehicle breaks down. If this happens, please use your GuardOn mobile app to seek help.

Who are the Responders that come to my help and rescue?

Responders to Safety and Medical Alerts include Emergency Contacts (your friends, family and colleagues that you configure into your GuardOn app), First Responders (Police, Fire and Emergency Medical Technicians that have signed up to use GuardOn), and GuardOn Angels (GuardOn community members who have volunteered to come to the aid of their neighbors).

Responders to non-emergency Help Requests such as roadside assistance include your Emergency Contacts, GuardOn Angels and commercial entities such as Towing and Roadside Assistance Companies.

Can I use GuardOn to find out if the area I am in is safe?

Yes, you can use the “How safe are you?” feature to do this. This will tell you the number of Police, Fire, Emergency Medical Technicians, Trusted Contacts and GuardOn Angels in your neighborhood.

Can I use GuardOn to find out if the route I am taking is safe?

Yes, you can use the “Guarded Route” feature to do this. Enter the address of the place you are going to. GuardOn displays alternate routes to it. The locations nearby Responders are shown along with the route.

Pick the route that you feel is safest based on the number and location of Responders. Through GuardOn you can launch your favorite navigation software to find directions to your destination.

What else can I use GuardOn for? Is it useful to me when I am not in any emergency situation?

In addition to emergency situations requiring Safety Alerts or Medical Alerts, and semi-emergency situations such as Roadside Assistance requests, GuardOn can be used by you

  • Check-in: For fun to keep a historical record of all the great places you have been to, or to let your family know that you have arrived safely at your destination. With each check-in you can send text, image, audio and video messages
  • Locate Friends: You can find the locations of friends and family that have given you permission to locate them. Through GuardOn you can launch your favorite navigation software to find directions to them
  • Distress List: Would you like to find out what types of Distress Alerts have been raised in your city? Want to know the type of crimes that have occurred in your neighborhood? Browse or filter through the Distress List. You will get details on each one… who raised the alert, where was it raised, when was it raised, what was the distress, who responded to the alert and what was communicated during distress.

Do I have control over sending my Alerts? Can I specify to whom it should be sent?

Yes, you do have control over it. Through your user account configuration, you can specify whether your Alerts are to be sent only to First Responders and/or GuardOn Angels. Alerts are always sent to your Emergency Contacts. You have similar control over who your non-emergency Help Requests are sent to.

When sending Alerts or Help Requests to GuardOn Angels, you can further specify whether you want them sent to GuardOn Angels of all genders, or only to female GuardOn Angels.

Why do you send emergency Alerts to GuardOn Angels? Why not limit it only to my Emergency Contacts and First Responders?

Sending Alerts to GuardOn Angels is an option you have. You can enable or disable it. We provide this option to address situations wherein your Emergency Contacts and First Responders are not able to come to your rescue in a timely manner.

In many parts of the country and in the world, First Responders may not be able to get to you in a timely manner because of traffic conditions in the cities or far locations in the suburbs and rural areas. Likewise, your Emergency Contacts may be located far away from you and may not be able to come to your rescue in a timely manner. In these situations, GuardOn Angels, who are in your neighborhood are able to come to your rescue faster.

What happens when I raise an Alert?

  • The date and time when you raised the Alert so that they know the criticality
  • Your name, age, gender and photograph, so that they can identify you
  • Your location and the corresponding geocoded address so that they can locate and navigate you
  • Details on the Alert type, if you have provided that information, so that they can be better prepared to help you
  • Automatic recording of your audio that is recorded for 2 minutes immediately after you raise a Safety or Medical alert, so that they can get a better sense of what is happening to you
  • Any additional images, audio or video that you voluntarily send to the Responders through your GuardOn app

Rewards? Are they mandatory?

No, Rewards are not mandatory. You may or may not choose to offer monetary rewards to GuardOn Angels who come to your rescue. It may or may not motivate them further to come to your rescue.

The choice is totally yours. If, out of a sense of gratitude, or out of a desire to further motivate others to help you when you are in distress, you want to offer a Reward, we allow you to do so through your GuardOn mobile app. In your GuardOn user profile, just specify the amount of money you want to reward GuardOn Angels for Safety Alerts and Medical Alerts. They can be different amounts, and they can each be zero if you prefer not to reward.

Who is responsible for paying the Reward?

You are solely and totally responsible for paying any Rewards that you offer. GuardOn is not responsible for it. If you do not want to be responsible for paying the rewards that you offer, then do not offer any Rewards.

I intend to offer a Reward and pay it when others rescue me. How do I decide who it should be paid to if many respond and work together to rescue me?

It is totally up to you. Based on information you have on who rescued you, you may pay the entire reward amount to one person, or split it up in any proportion amongst multiple rescuers.

If I respond as a Guardian Angel and help or rescue a person in distress, am I going to be guaranteed payment of the Reward?

GuardOn does not guarantee, nor do we take any responsibility for payment of Rewards offered by any of its Users. GuardOn only makes information on the intent of the User to offer a Reward available to you. It is totally the responsibility of the User who has offered the Reward to pay.

As a Responder, how will I be notified of distresses?

You will always receive notifications when your Emergency Contacts raise Distress Alerts. If you are a First Responder or a Guardian Angel, you will receive notifications for Distress Alerts raised by people in your vicinity or neighborhood.

Notifications are sent to you push, in-app and email messages. In addition, if the GuardOn user who raised the Distress Alert is a premium user, you will also receive these notifications through SMS and voice calls.

As a Responder, how do I respond to Distress Alerts?

When you receive notifications through any of these channels, please open your GuardOn mobile app and view the Distress List. Tap the distress that is active, to see details on the Alert.

Through the Overview tab in the Distress Details screen on GuardOn, you can respond to the Distress Alert by tapping the ‘Yes’ button below the “Will you help?” question.

When you do that, you can communicate with the person under distress through the Chat tab of the Distress Details screen.

You will also get the exact location of the person under distress in the Navigation tab of the Distress Details screen and be able to find directions to that person by launching your preferred mapping software through GuardOn.

How accurate is the location tracking?

GuardOn utilizes the highest accuracy location information when you are in distress and raise an alert, because we want to provide a very accurate location and address to the Responders who are coming to help you.

Accuracy depends upon your device and your network provider, and whether or not you have enabled WiFi and are in an area with WiFi. Enabling WiFi and being in a WiFi area increases accuracy. Location can be as accurate as 2 meters
